Hiunchuli peak climbing nepal

Trip Fact
Name of the Trip: Hiunchuli Peak Climbing
Trip Duration: 25 Nights/ 26 days
Region: Annapurna region
Trip Starts from: Kathmandu
Trip Ends at: Kathmandu
Trip Grade: Strenuous
Maximum Altitude: 6441m

Hiunchuli Peak (6,441m) together with Annapurna South form a massive south-facing wall. Hiunchuli has large South Shoulder extending along the Modi Khola River Valley and 3 ridges radiating from the summit towards West, Northeast and South.

From the technical climbing aspect it is considered as one of the easiest peaks for an expedition climb, however it has a considerable objective dander of falling rocks and maybe difficult for route finding on its Southeast Face climb, the standard route. Its Northeast Ridge forms a shoulder guarding the entrance to the Annapurna Sanctuary with the Base Camp of Machhapuchhre (Fishtail) located at its base. Hiunchuli was first climbed via its southeast face in October 1971 by expedition from American Peace Corps lead by Craig Anderson.

Hiunchuli offers major new route potentials; however it has received little attention from mountaineers and is rarely climbed. It was first reported by Jimmy Roberts, who also named Annapurna Sanctuary, because local inhabitants considered the area sacred. There are 3 major trekking peaks accessible from Annapurna Sanctuary: Tent Peak, Fluted Peak and Hiunchuli.
